Day 30-Party Time
Alex went to her first friends birthday party today.
She was invited to quite a few last year,
but every time we ended up being busy or sick.
She had a fun time, she especially liked the cake.

Day 25- The Little Bus
Growing up I loved Fisher Price toys
I played with them until I was probably too old.
I was mad when they started changing the little people to big people..
Luckily I have most the Little People toys I had growing up
and now I, I mean, my kids play with them

Day 18
Growing up I took piano lessons... and then I began playing the flute.
Our band instructor wanted us to have private lessons,
so I began flute lessons.
Flute and piano lessons were just too much,
so the piano was left behind.
And the flute took it's place.
Thank to my nose finally clearing up- I was able to get my flute back out and practice again today.

Egg and a Hat Recipe
I have had a few questions about how to make these, especially how to not burn the toast. So figured I would post this so everyone can enjoy.
Egg and a Hat
1 Piece of Bread (More if making more-duh)
1 Egg
The egg actually almost cooks faster than the toast.
Here is how I make them,
The key is lots of butter on the griddle. I put lots of butter on and let it melt on medium-highish heat. While it is melting I cut out the holes in the bread, just with a knife. I then put the bread on the griddle, the hats on a separate spot to toast also. I leave just the bread on for around 30 secs-1 min and then I add the egg.
Crack one egg in each hole. If you like a bit of a runny yoke, then just leave the egg alone. If you don't want runny, then just break the yoke with a knife.
The hats will probably cook first, so just check to see if they are toasted as desired. The egg probably takes about 3 mins approx on the first side and only about 1 minute when you flip it over for the second side, just depends how over easy you want your egg. If the bread seems to be cooking too fast, just turn down the heat a tiny bit.
Hopefully my times are accurate. I just make these every week, so I make them without thinking. Enjoy!

Day 17
Most mornings we have toast for breakfast.. well Lucas does at least.
It is what he always wants, his "sweet toast (i.e. wheat toast) with cinnamon and sugar on it.
The weekends are special though. Saturday's we will have pancakes or waffles..
And on Sunday's, well it's Egg and A Hat of course.
Simply a piece of bread with a circle cut out of the center that you cook the egg in.
I always had these growing up, and well I guess so will my kids.

Day 16
A foreshadowing I am afraid...
Alex lay on the couch for twenty minutes and "talked" on the phone.
"Be quiet, I am talking on the phone!" she informed me.
And what was she talking about?
I heard lots of, "that's good" "what?"
and the my favorite "we can all get married"
Girls...

Day 15
I'm going to spend my day with trains!
I have been buying GeoTrax for Lucas since he was not even 2-years-old
3 1/2 years later and he still plays with them
After yesterday, I knew I just needed to enjoy my kids
So we spent our day with trains.

Day 14
Don't let those smiles fool you...
those balloons were earned from a hour of tears and screaming.
For an anxiety-ridden, sensitive to the touch child--the dentist is pure torture.
And well, his sister just got one since she is cute and was along for the ride.
Had to take this picture to help him somehow remember the dentist as being fun.

Day 13
I kept hearing noises all morning... then I realized it was a bunch of dumpsters and construction vehicles working on the private school behind us.
I told Lucas and he hurried upstairs. He spent the next half hour just watching those trucks go back and forth.
"It's a dumpy day!" he declared.
Yes a wonderful dumpy day.

Day 12
That's it...
that is all of the groceries we needed.
Alex had a nap, so I figured it would be safe to go. I never even fathomed it would be my 5 year old lying in the isle throwing a fit.
All because I said no.. no he could not buy that car. I didn't take a picture of him throwing a fit at the store as I was doing my best to stay calm and just deal with the situation.
It didn't really improve... and then when there were someone standing next to my car pretending to box the windows of my van, as he was a professional boxer back in Indiana, as he told me...
well don't mess with a momma who's been dealing with a tantrum-throwing, getting in more trouble by the minute 5-year-old.

Day 10
I really was throwing myself a nice pity party.
But lunch needed to be made. And I really wanted to make my recipe for the cooking club this month.I knew it would be a doozy, lots of work for a meal my kids probably wouldn't like in the end...
but it is one of the recipes that makes you feel like you are gourmet cook--when you hands get dirty, when you make something from scratch..
And you know-- after making it I didn't feel tired or sick anymore.
Sometimes if you stop throwing yourself a pity party and just do something.. it really does work

"You may have seen a meteor shower; but you've never seen a shower meatier than this"
Today we went on a walk since Flint Lockwood-aka Lucas used his machine to make a it rain food for us.
If you haven't seen Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs yet, watch it!

Day 8
Unfortunately this picture represents my day all too well
The cold I have been fighting all week--it got me
And I hate having a stuffy nose!
In fact I might be a little OCD when it comes to blowing my nose.
Maybe I should invest in a good box of Kleenex
... and a garbage can

Day 6
We often inherit many things from our parents. One of the things Lucas inherited, was his daddy's hair.
The entire back-top side of his hair is one giant cowlick, straight up!
The only solution... hairspray.
Luckily, he likes looking good.

Day 4
"Can we have a picnic lunch?"
Translation: 'Can we watch a show while eating lunch'
Sometimes I give in, get out our picnic blanket-translation: an old ugly sheet.
Today's lunch: Cheetos--all gone
Apple Slices--all gone
Mini blueberry muffin-all gone
Capri Sun-all gone
Sandwich--well almost

Day 2
She just turned 3 but she is her daddy's daughter, very very tall. She likes to sleep below her pillow, making the toddler bed even smaller. So today she got her first big girl bed. And it worked, she slept in until almost 8:00 AM!!

Day 1
My sister Wendy went to college when I was in 4th grade. As a teenager I used to baby-sit her daughter... life went on, she moved, I moved... again and again. But now life has brought us back together, we only live 35 minutes apart.
And my kids--they adore her.
