Day 118

We had a teacher's meeting for primary;
it was a garden theme so I made these cupcakes.
Did I mention they were jumbo cupcakes? Mmmmm

Day 117Looks like a good day to stay inside.
Luckily the fog cleared soon.

Day 116-Child's Art

"Do you like it?" Lucas asked me.

"I love it."
"Yes, it is good because I took my time and didn't rush."
Things I am teaching are sinking in... what a proud mommy moment.

Day 115-Spring's Focus

I had been taking pictures with my zoom lens..
I went inside and switched to my nifty fifty.
I love that lens, and it is amazing what a difference the lowering the number of the f-stop can make..
see that big green area in the top almost middle of the picture... it is a garbage can.
Definitely looks better out of focus.

Day 114-The wonder

You often wonder what they are thinking,
what goes through their heads...
at this moment, well it seems to be something very deep and profound.

I only wish I had had this picture when iheart faces did their dramatic black and white
... I think it's a winner.

Day 113- The Worm

Alex and Lucas found this worm by the back door.

It became Alex's "friend" for the next 20 minutes.
She finally set it free in the grass.
Hope it wasn't too traumatized :)

Day 111- Something is Missing

We couldn't find the wheels for the car...

she said it drives better this way.
Maybe she was using the same logic when she took off the girl's hair
"so she can drive her car" she told me...
hmmm.... I don't take my hair off when I drive, do you?

Day 110-Volcano!!

It isn't pretty... but it exploded (i.e. fizzled bubbled over)
and the kids loved it.

109I never knew the desert could be beautiful
until my first spring in Mesa when the cacti started to flower.
This is one we brought with us...
hey look, I can keep a cactus alive!

It's a moth
it was one of two thing I got a picture of in the butterfly exhibit
that we waited in line for 45 minutes to go into...
yeah, it wasn't really worth it

Day 106- Cool Hand Luke

Anyone see the movie Cool Hand Luke?
In it the main character ate 60 hard boiled eggs in a hour...
Today at work my husband took on the challenge to eat 50 in a hour.

He made it to 20, realized he was not going to make it and smartly called it quits

So I took this picture in honor of him.

Nothing makes Lucas happier than when I build and drive GeoTrax with him

Thursday April 15thAfter two weeks of spring break
getting back into the swing of things can be very tiring.

Sitting still isn't his strong suit...
Writing and Drawing, don't really interest him...

1 Successful unplanned trip to the Miniature Train Museum and Zoo

Day 98- Death Grip

She used to be fearless...

but the first time back to the ocean this year
and she had a death grip on my hand for quite a while.
She did have fun though

We went to a new playground by my sister's

the kids could have spun on this all day...
makes me dizzy just watching them

Day 95-Slimy things

"There's a snail on the window!" my kids each squealed.

Day 92- The Flowers that Won't DieI do not have a green thumb...
if you need proof you should see our back lawn

but these flowers...
well they just magically came back all on their own this year.
I guess they are going to survive in-spite of me.

Day 93- The ScrambleYou've got to be fast if you want to get eggs in that group of kids...
Lucas (in the green & white stripes) did great.

Day 94-The Basket HuntOur Easter Bunny hides the baskets using clues that need to be followed.
In Lucas' case, words he gets to sound out and read.

Day 91-Missing Them!

Eric's parents came last week...
They left on Tuesday...
it has been a long week since they left.
This note was left in case they were gone before the kids woke up...
