Day 10: Is That a Rooster?

I don't live in a small town. The populations is right around 160,000 and we are surrounded by city after city with populations this big or bigger. So when I went to the post office the other day I was surprised to see this

Yep, a rooster wandering behind the post office- which is actually a very small/funny ghetto building- also doesn't fit the city.

Alex returned to preschool today. It was just Ryder and I at home. We have done this since August, but I guess the long break just made me forget. Forget how quiet it is with just him. How much I can get done with just him around. I liked it.
And these resolutions from my 7-year-old
please let these be resolutions that are actually kept!

And daddy's big blue truck- this ended up being one of the lasts days it is ours. Eric got a company vehicle and it was finally ready for pickup. Now we have to sell big blue.Ryder is going to miss it.

And I may have ended my day by using this to wash down my multivitamin.

Day 9: School's back

Lucas went back to school today. We had our usual- "I feel sick" in the morning, which I usually mostly ignore and then surprise he goes off to school has a great time and comes home happy.

It was a lot quieter with just two at home. We ran some errands,

did some puzzles,
and just tried to adjust back to the routine.

I made dinner too- something I have been slacking on lately

He grabbed the oven mitt and tried to get the dinner out himself. A very blurry picture that I was hurrying to get with my phone- but had to capture the moment.

We did end the day with a great family home evening where we even had Lucas do one of his school projects as part of the lesson! Score!

Day 8: Sunday Afternoons

I like Sunday's. As a Latter Day Saint, we truly treat it as a day of rest (no work, no shopping, etc). It is nice. Nice to get away from it all for a day. Nice to have a day to attend church and spend the afternoon with the family. Easy laid back afternoons.

Day 7: Sisters

7:20 AM I am lacing up my running shoes. Shouldn't I be in bed still? Something goes funny with my running app-(okay so it was operator error) but I run in silence. The crunch of my shoes on the gravel- the occasional hello to other runners. Almost four miles today.Our Saturday morning cleaning and then in the afternoon we travel to my big sister's house.

My sister's Christmas tree was still up- ornaments removed but still there- Ryder was in heaven.A little hide-and-seek with a cousinSlides are fun tooThere is nothing quite like a fresh orange right off the treeGifts from my sister- school desks for her dolls- I think she likes themMade me smile today: We brought cookies for dessert- the yummy soft sugar cookies with frosting. Ryder saw them "Cook-coos, cook-coos" he said again and again.

Day 6: Friday Fun

After a month of somebody being sick, lots of family visiting and holidays I finally made it back to work out class.

It felt so good putting on my work out clothes.
And it still felt good when class was all over.

Then I got to spend part of the day with my best friend CA Girl- the kids played and we just sat and visited- it was perfect.Friday night we always go out to dinner- this week it was Fudruckers.

Thing that made me smile today: During dinner Ryder took a sip of his milk, threw his head back and said "mmmm". He then pointed to Eric and said "Dada mmmm" Eric complied threw his head back and said mmmm. Ryder then went around the table point at each of us, waiting for us to say mmm too. "Lalix" he said pointing to Alex. "Cas" he said pointing to Lucas. "Mama" we all take our turn, throw our heads back and say "mmmm" This is his favorite dinner time game.

Day 5: Nap Time

I love nap-time. It is quite precious to me. I am going to morn it when it is gone. But time will go quickly and I will probably wish for these simple days again.

But today- today when your usual hour and a half nap became two and then almost three- I began to miss you.

I crept into your room, camera in hand

Day 4: Sun and Fights

The kids started fighting- we needed to get out.

Outside we go.

I love living in a cul-de-sac. We sometimes take over the road

But be mindful of that big curb

It's his sister's old lawn mower- he has claimed it as his own. Yes, it is pink. But don't give him a pink sippy cup. We tried one time (it was part of a two-pack) he shoved that thing away and refused to drink from it. Pink lawn mowers okay- pink sippy cups- not so much.

Ryder went in the garage and got out the chalk

He likes adding his contribution to everybody's work

But inevitably I have to say

and the fun ends and we start seeing red

What were they fighting about? Well who had the most jewels and where they should hide them of course. Gotta love fights over imaginary things.

But when it got to this- yes she is about to kick him

that is when mama cop came out and they ended up in the slammer

Wait- that isn't right.
